Usually when I pick out an outfit I start with the jeans, then a top and then the rest – sound about right? However, today’s outfit started with the coat! Now, bright orange is not a normal color I think of as “yeah, sign me up”, but when paired with the right things you can make any bright color seem tame.
The key to wearing a bold color is to pair it with neutrals and other classic pieces. In fact, this coat is a classic style which makes it even easier to style (because classic pieces go with anything). I paired my coat with a simple cut skirt and a basic t-shirt. Booties have been my go-to-trendy-but-more-importantly-work-friendly shoe, so you know I threw a pair of those on. As always not too many accessories, which is a personal choice. In fact, this out fit would go well with a long pendant necklace or bracelets. Just like that, I’m dressed!
Now to make things interesting instead of classically boring you can play with textures and prints – which is my modus operandi. Instead of a plain black t-shirt why not try a stripe, polka dot, or whatever print you fancy? My skirt is a faux snake texture and has shine to it. I will also admit to going faux snake overboard because my clutch is the same texture. As if I didn’t have enough of this texture thing in my life, my booties may be a very neutral tan, but they also have studs for days.

What color are you the most afraid of? Is it bright yellow? Pink? Or maybe even color itself? My advice is start out small and keep with it! Color is an exciting way to add variety into your wardrobe and it’s definitely worth the risk.
