This month’s Fashion Crush is a brand that is a personal favorite of mine – ‘kate spade new york‘! I began loving this brand so much while working at Crossroads Trading. People would come in a sell their items and I was like, “Oh my gosh. Why are you selling this? It’s so cute!” After a year I began to see why they would be able to let it go…over the course of the year I had five of their wallets. No person needs five wallets. But they’re just so cute! No worries, I sold two…but honestly no person needs three wallets either…
The company began in 1993 when creator, Katherine Noel Brosnahan, saw a lack of stylish yet sensible handbags sold at Mademoiselle, of which she worked as the Fashion Editor and Head of Accessories. One year later she married her husband, Andy Spade – whom also worked for Mademoiselle and is brother to comedian David Spade. In 1996, she opened her first store front. In 2014, Craig Leavitt became the CEO of Kate Spade & Co. which is the lifestyle and fashion brand.
Now you can’t go down the street without seeing someone wear one of her handbags. When I say someone, I mean almost anyone – her bags are worn by trendy high-schoolers to the classic woman…and if you see me on the street I’ll probably be rocking my Ceder Street Monday – which you can see me model in the article ‘How to Mix Monochromatic Prints‘ and ‘Modern Icon‘.
Her designs are so whimsical and fun, that make you feel like mischievous and carefree little girl again. Below are my favorites that do just that.
Enjoy! Don’t put too many of her items in your shopping basket. I swear to you, it’s dangerous! …and make sure to keep your eyes out for next month’s Fashion Crush. -Alexa, Little Pink Moto
…and the one I love the most… Cat’s Meow Small Maise Satchel, $298.00
