A good blazer is a staple in every woman’s wardrobe, that much we know.  It’s super useful for a board meeting and attending an interview – but is that it? Blazers typically thought of to be worn only during formal occasions, however they actually are way more versatile than that. They bring a sort of clean sophistication that pairs really well with comfy casual clothing. Here, let me show you how…

Paired with denim, it’s basically a match made in casual heaven. There are almost no rules when it comes to this style. You can wear it with dark or light denim, loose or skinny, heels or flats – it doesn’t matter. Basically anything you’d want to throw a zip up hoodie onto, you can pair it with a blazer instead and look chic. I promise you, people will not question your sanity. image source via fashiongum.com & creatorsofdesire.com/anoukyve

Blazers look amazing paired with shorts. Just like these beauties above, the blazer looks even better  when the hem is almost as long as the short’s hem because it gives off that wearing-my-boyfriend’s-jacket sort of sexy vibe. Even your blazer is much shorter, (hits around your waist) that still works well with this style. image source via lookbook.nu/user/184723-Miu-N & vivaluxury.blogspot.com

If you do decide to style your blazer the more traditional way with trousers, that works too. These are the sort of looks you can pull off both right after work when heading out for dinner and drinks with friends, or just hanging out on the weekends. To achieve the more casual look, you can either style your look with sneakers or leave things a little loose and undone. image source via lefashion.com & pinterest

Blazer aren’t just a pant’s sort of look. They also work really well with dresses and skirts too. Again, these fashionistas went for a longer blazer look. If you’re looking to pair with a dress, I would suggest not using this length. You either want an intentionally long coat that hits around mid thigh, or a short jacket that stays at the natural waistline. By choosing one of these lengths, you will not look accidentally dwarfed by your jacket. image source via fashionology.ru & dressupforarmageddon.com

To keep things sleek and edgy, try pairing your blazer with a leather skirt or pant. Leather can be pretty pricey, so you can definately buy a faux leather piece. Although, in my personal experience, I stay away from faux leather pants. Because they are not made of a natural material, they do not breathe at all. So while your legs might look awesome on the outside – you might feel and sweat like you were in a suana. image source via camilleovertherainbow.com & whowhatwear.com

Do not be afraid of color either! Colored blazers can do anything their black conterparts can do, with a little added playfulness. You can either mix with other colors (like the first image) or pair it simply with monochromatic black and white. Whatever you end up deciding to do, just try to have fun and don’t get stuck. Colors are a lot easier to match than they seem – so try it on with everything. Chances are, you’ll find combinations you didn’t think possible.  image source via gastrochic.com & lateafternoonblog.com

Have you heard the saying “No white after Labor Day?” – it’s a total myth. White actually works well all year around, not just in summer like everyone assumes (we like to refer to it as ‘winer white’ during cold weather). Even though white scares most people, I always feel like I’ll ruin it, white blazers are a super easy way to make even a tee shirt look modern. image source via styledumonde.com & lolobu.com

If you can’t decide on one color, consider buying a printed blazer. I, myself, am a fan of mixing prints like these ladies, but printed blazers are also a fool-proof way to make any basic outfit pop! Fun fact: These printed blazers also look awesome for work as well.  image source via aelida.com & cupcakesandcashmere.com

I love blazers too! Especially when wearing them with less put together pieces, like boyfriend jeans. They are a good way to add some sophistication to an outfit. I love the inspiration pics you chose!
